Growlithe (ガーディ Gardie) is a Fire-Type Pokémon, which can evolve into an Arcanine using a Fire Stone. This Pokémon resembles a puppy. It has bright orange fur with black stripes. It's belly, tail, and fluff on top of its head are a cream color. There are no gender diferences. Growlithe generally live in active volcanoes, grassy plains, and scorched plains heated by geo thermal activity. To evolve a Growlithe into an Arcanine, a Fire Stone must be used. Growlithe's name is derived from the words growl, because it will growl at its enemies, and lithe, which refers to its readily bent posture before it attacks. It is harder to catch in Pokemon because of one of its attacks which allow it to flee. It's name in the Beta Version was Flamie. Naturally loyal and protective, if it is improperly trained it often bites without warning or unprovoked.

To get one in Red, it can be found on routes 7, 8, and the pokemon mansion.
To get one in Blue and Silver, it has to be traded from either Red, Yellow, Gold, and Crystal.
To get one in Yellow, it can be found in the pokemon mansion.
To get one in Gold, it can be found on routes 7, 8, 36, and 37.
To get one in Crystal, it can be found on routes 8, 36, and 37.
To get one in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, LeafGreen, and Colosseum, it has to be traded from FireRed and XD.
To get one in FireRed, it can be found on routes 7, 8, and the pokemon mansion floors 1, 2, & 3, & basement 1.
To get one in XD, it can be snagged from Cipher Peon Humah in Cipher Key Lair.
To get one in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, it can be found on routes 201 and 202, with FireRed in the game slot must use the poke'radar
