Great Canyon (おおいなる きょうこく Great Canyon) is the eighth dungeon in Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team. It must be traveled through to reach the Hill of the Ancients, the home of a Xatu who helps out the player with its precognition. Immediately after completing the dungeon for the first time, the player becomes a fugitive and is not allowed to return to Pokémon Square until after completing Mt. Freeze. There is no chance of finding a Monster House, a Kecleon Shop, or a buried item in this dungeon.
Plot[]
SPOILER WARNING Plot and/or ending details may follow. |
After the player has defeated Zapdos, the partner finds the location of the Hill of the Ancients in the Great Canyon. When the rescue team finds the top of the Great Canyon, they find a motionless Xatu. The player then has two choices: to attack Xatu or tickle Xatu. The choice makes no difference, as Xatu awakens to the player. The partner then asks Xatu how the player turned into a Pokémon. Xatu then tells the player that the Natural Disasters and the player's transformation are connected somehow. Xatu also predicts the worlds destruction. Gengar then appears, interested by the player's past, then vanishes.
