The Gracidea Flower (グラシデアの花 Glacidia Flower) is a key item that can be used to transform Shaymin from Land Forme to Sky Forme in Pokémon Platinum version. The Gracidea Flower can only transform Shaymin during the timeframe of 4am to 8pm in the day. The Gracidea Flower event must be used in conjunction with the Oak's Letter event.
In the Games
The Gracidea Flower is received from a woman near the southern entrance of Floaroma Town, once the event-distributed Shaymin is received and placed in the first slot in your party. Once you receive the Gracidea flower, Shaymin will transform into its Sky Forme. However, Shaymin returns to Land Forme during 8pm to 4am; it will also change back to Land Forme when frozen. If you do not have Shaymin as the first slot of your party, she will not give it to you. Similarly, the Gracidea Flower is available in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver through the bouquet shop in Goldenrod City. In Pokémon Black and White, the Gracidea Flower can be obtained from a woman in the Striaton City Pokémon Center, so long as Shaymin has been transferred prior.
In the Movies
In the movie, Pokémon Giratina and the Sky Warrior, it was shown that when Shaymin is near a Gracidea flower, the pollen moves and temporarily pollinates Shaymin to change it into its Sky Forme. According to the quarterly Flower Bearing of the Shaymin, that wherever the Shaymin land, a new Gracidea Flower patch grows there. Gracidea Flowers are also distributed in the form of a bouquet, in which people can give them to their relatives to show gratitude.
- This flower shares its name with the land in which it originated from, as shown in the movie. However, the land of Gracidea does not feature in the games, considering that Flower Paradise is the primary location to find Shaymin within Generation IV.
- The word Gracidea is a portmanteau of the Latin words gracilis and dea, which respectively mean grateful and goddess.
- Also, Shaymin cannot change into Sky Forme if it is given the status ailment Frozen.
