Gothita (Japanese: ゴチム Gothimu) is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. It is Solosis's counterpart.

Biology

Physiology

Gothita is a small Pokémon has the appearance of a baby. It has a large, rounded purple head, big blue eyes with three visible eyelashes on each, and large pink lips. It has three white bow-like adornments, located on the sides of its head and its neck. The top of its head is black with a rounded upright ovular antenna-like feeler sprouting from the very top. It has a slightly pudgy little black body with stubby arms and legs and a white zigzagging pattern across its belly. It slightly resembles Smoochum.

Behavior

Gothita are often seen staring intently at everything, including Pokémon and people. It appears that it can see something in a mystical dimension that cannot be seen by human eyes. It can become so entranced by what it is watching that it does not notice that it is being attacked by an opponent.

Special Abilities

Gothita's bow-like feelers enable it to increase its psychic powers.

Evolution

Gothita evolves into Gothorita at level 32, then into Gothitelle at level 41.

Trivia

  • Gothita's bow-like feelers are very similar to Sylveon's bow-like feelers, and function in similar ways.

Origin

Gothita appears to be based on a baby or young child dressed in Gothic lolita fashion.

Etymology

The "Goth" part of its name seems to refer to Gothic subculture, with the "ita" being a reference to Lolita. Hence the reference to the popular fashion in Japanese Harajuku culture, 'Gothic Lolita'. "Ita" is also a phrase used in Lolita circles to describe a person who is "doing it wrong". This trends follows similarly in the 'Goth' family.
