Background
Hailing from New Bark Town, the boy is incredibly athletic and lives in a house full of various Pokémon. Because of this, the neighbors have dubbed him “The Pokémon boy”. He started with the Pokémon Cyndaquil. His birth date is July 21. His blood type is B. Sampling popular foods from different places is his interest. Skateboarding and Billiards are his skills. Volcanic Steak is his favorite food.

Personality
Personality
As the reader becomes acquainted with Gold, one finds he’s a kind-hearted but very hot-headed young man who doesn’t seem to think things over well. When he first met Bugsy, he mistook him for a female and asked him out for tea. He also asked Jasmine, the Olivine City Gym Leader out on a date once. He also touched Green's bottom by accident when he was trying to pat her on the back, igniting Silver's anger. For some reason when he first met Crystal he did not get along with her and when Crystal took the burnt food that he gave to her, he said that the blackness of the food matches her personality. Also at the end of the saga he flirted with Yellow, not knowing that she was a year older, until Crystal showed him the information about Yellow. Besides being a protagonist of the manga series, he also serves as comic relief (mostly due to his flirtatious nature, his nicknaming or his habit of not recognizing several characters who are famous or he met in person before.)

For the variant appearing in the games, see Ethan.

The opponent is someone who abuses Pokémon for selfish reasons. It's unforgivable!

Gold, Pokémon Adventures: Volume 13

Gold is the first new trainer featured in the Gold and Silver arc of Pokémon Adventures.

Appearance

Gold is a young boy with black hair that has a quiff, fair skin, and yellow-gold coloured eyes, usually wearing his goggles over his hats.

Gold and Silver arc

This section, or a part of it, has been transcluded from Ethan; any changes involving it should be made there instead. /

He wears a backwards-cap with the back being mustard yellow and the front being black with a red Poké ball logo (according to art showing the front of his hat), a red hoodie with white hood, white kangaroo pocket, and a white non-functional zipper detail, a black T-shirt underneath, and yellow shorts with black sides. On the righthand side of his hoodie, Ethan sports a Poké Ball holster. His footwear consists of sneakers—colored red, white, black, and yellow—paired with short red socks. To carry his items, he hefts around a bulky backpack, which is typically shown as white with a red Poké Ball design on the front pocket.

HeartGold and SoulSilver arc

He wears a red hoodie with a collar, white non-functional zipper detail and white hood, black shorts, red and white sneakers, and a gray satchel. The cap's appearance remains mostly faithful to the original, but now theres a mustard yellow line on the cap from front and back, resembling an Ultra Ball. His hair is also now Mulled Wine color.

Personality

Hailing from New Bark Town, Gold is incredibly athletic and lives in a house full of various Pokémon. As the reader becomes acquainted with Gold, one finds he's a kind-hearted but very hot-headed young man who doesn't seem to think things over well. However, when telling Emerald about getting Jirachi, he showed more of a serious personality, which is unlike of him. When he first met Bugsy, he mistook him for a female and asked him out for tea. He also asked Jasmine, the Olivine City Gym Leader out on a date once. He plays with his skateboard while his Pokémon competes. For some reason when he first met Crystal he did not get along with her, saying she was too serious, and when he gave her burnt food he said that the blackness of the food matches her personality. Besides being a protagonist of the manga series, he also serves as comic relief (mostly due to his flirtatious nature, his nicknaming or his habit of not recognizing several characters who are famous or he met in person before.)

Gold's special skill is Pokémon hatching and is known as the "Hatcher".

Pokémon

On hand

Aibo was one of the first Pokémon to accompany Gold on his adventures. Gold also used it to cheat in pool by wrapping paper around its Poké Ball and having it roll around to win. It evolved into a Ambipom during the HGSS arc.
Aibo

As a Poliwag, it was accidentally stolen by Team Rocket since they stole Gold's bag instead of Prof. Elm's bag. Polibo's Poké Ball fell out and into a river with him still in it. Poltaro evolved twice in the Bell Tower with the help of Silver trading it when it was holding a King's Rock. Much to Gold's disappointment because of wanting Polibo to be like Red's Poli.
Polibo

Exbo started out as a Cyndaquil and when the Totodile was stolen by Silver, it became mad that its friend was taken and decided to go with Gold to try to get him back. Exbo evolved to a Quilava after battling the Pokémon in the daycare. It evolved to a Typhlosion while battling Lugia in Whirl Island.
Exbo

Gold caught Sunbo after the mass outbreak of Sunkern near his hometown and used Sintaro to beat Skarmory. She is the reason for Togebo hatching and uses Sunny Day to power up Exbo's fire-type attacks. She evolved into a Sunflora after battling the the Masked Man.
Sunbo

Gold met Sudobo while in a bike race with Whitney. It was blocking the path of the race and both of them tried to get it out of the way, yet it didn't budge. After Polibo's Water Gun, it shrinks in size and Gold finds it was running from a Rhydon. Much later, Gold helped him regain his confidence and he was able to defeat it. After the battle, he decided to go along with Gold.
Sudobo

Togebo was given to Gold as an egg by Professor Elm's assistant, so he could hatch it. It was the offspring of Jasmine's Togetic. It hatched into a Togepi and had an interest in gambling just like Gold. During the HeartGold & SoulSilver chapter, it was revealed that Gold didn't want Togepi to get hurt so he withdrew him from battles, After Gold began to trust him, it evolved into a Togetic and later evolved into a Togekiss after using the Shiny Stone that Gold received from Lance.
Togebo

In storage

While battling Lugia, Gold caught Tibo in order to fly and damage Lugia. With Remoraid attached to his wings, Gold can glide with Tibo through the air.
