-It is unknown how Gary caught Arcanine, but it debuted in [[The Battle of the Badge|''The Battle of the Badge'']], where it was called upon to battle [[Giovanni's Kingler]] and despite a type disadvantage, Arcanine beat Kingler and nearly got Gary the win, but Giovanni then sent out [[Mewtwo (anime)|Mewtwo]] and it overpowered both Arcanine and [[Gary's Nidoking|Nidoking]], leaving Gary to wonder what Pokemon he had just battled.
-Arcanine appeared in ''Extreme Pokémon!'', where Gary used it to compete in the Extreme Pokémon Race. At first, Ash thought Gary was mistreating Arcanine, but after learning it wasn't hurt, he competed as well, subsequently defeating his rival.
