Gardenia's Cherubi was first seen battling Ash's Turtwig in The Grass Type Is Always Greener but was quickly recalled.
By the time Ash battled Gardenia in an official Gym battle, Cherubi had grown considerably stronger and this time forced Ash to recall his Turtwig and send out Staravia. Cherubi made good use of her Chlorophyll ability against both Turtwig and Staravia but was eventually defeated when Staravia defeated her.
Revealed in Pokémon Platinum, Cherubi had evolved into a Cherrim.
