Galvantula (Japanese: デンチュラ Dentula) is a Generation V / Bug - Electric type Pokémon that appears in the Pokémon Black and White games. Its classification is the EleSpider Pokémon and has the abilities Compoundeyes and Unnerve.
Galvantula has the ability to release two energy strings capable of creating a massive electric shock that can paralyze and kill prey. The dual energy strings are produced from Galvantula's fangs and can also form into a large net.
Galvantula is the evolved form of Joltik, as of level 36.
When attacked, they create an electric barrier by spitting out many electrically charged threads.
They employ an electrically charged web to trap their prey. While it is immobilized by shock, they leisurely consume it.
As seen in its general shape as well as its name, Galvantula is based on a tarantula.
Its Japanese name is likely a combination of 電気 denki, electricity, or 電柱 denchū, lightpole, and タランチュラ taranchura, tarantula.
Galvantula was among eight Pokémon revealed on the show Oha Suta on June 27, 2010. It was officially revealed on the October issue of Coro Coro on September 11, 2010.
Galvuantula is the fourth Pokémon with the appearance of a spider, the others being Spinarak, Ariados and Joltik.
No other Pokémon shares the same type combination as Galvantula, with the exception of its pre-evolution, Joltik.
Galvantula is a portmanteau of the worlds "galvant" and "tarantula".
Galvantula and it's pre-evolution, Joltik, are the only Pokémon that can learn Electroweb by leveling up.
