Freeze Shock is an Ice-type special move introduced in Generation V, and Black Kyurem's signature move.

Description

Freeze Shock is a two-turn attack move. On the turn it is selected in, it charges its attack. This charge turn can be skipped if the user is holding a Power Herb. On the following turn, the user will shoot electrically charged ice to deal damage.

Effect

In Battle

It has a 30% chance of paralyzing the target.

Despite the move taking up two turns, it only counts as one turn. If Freeze Shock is not fully executed, PP will not be deducted from it, and it will not count as the last move used. If the target uses Mirror Move during the turn that the user is charging, Mirror Move will copy the move that the user executed immediately before using Freeze Shock (or fail if it can't).

Sleep, freeze, partial trapping, and flinching will pause but not disrupt the duration of Freeze Shock.

Contest Spectaculars

Affected by how well the previous Pokémon's move went.

Italic indicates an evolved or alternate form of this Pokémon receives STAB from this move.

Trivia

  • Along with Ice Burn, Freeze Shock has the highest base power of all Ice-type moves.
  • Freeze Shock is the only Ice-type move able to cause paralysis.
  • The animation for the actual attacking part is very similar to that of Bolt Strike.
