Forums: Index Watercooler PokePower

If you have joined in the past six or seven months then you may not know about Pokepower:Main Page which was a group full of the most active members of the wiki where we met to discuss things happening on the wiki and also had editing projects going. In recent months it has been of a concern to me as almost all of the users who were involved in PokePower are inactive except for myself, Slaying, Jazzi and Winxfan.

I would like to propose that we revamp PokePower. It is such a good idea and was a great idea for people to keep up their editing that I think it would be a shame to let it go. You can apply for membership here. I would also like to propose that we remove all inactive PokePower members from the list and replace them with active members who have been accepted into the group. When we have enough members then I want to go onto organising the project leaders and also the two new PokePower members which I propose will be myself and Slaying. Anyway please post your opinions and ideas below on how we can revamp this. I look forward to people's applications! RainbowShifter 19:27, September 17, 2013 (UTC)

I suppose I could join. What could be good is to make it more exclusive, like the members can make polls on the home page (which should be made soon) or write Featured Pokémon/Character etc. That could make more people be interested in this. Energy X 20:21, September 17, 2013 (UTC)
Yes that could be a nice mini-project for people to get involved in and help out with the main page, updating news, Featured pages, etc. RainbowShifter 09:17, September 28, 2013 (UTC)

Well, after some time, it is time we collect the ideas. We should have the deletion category empty, the user blogs enabled, the main page modified and if you like, I could run this contest I have in mind. Energy X 21:02, October 2, 2013 (UTC)

After some time, I have made the final look of the tournament. You can see here for example. If we are going to post this, it has to have a section on the main page. Energy X 10:17, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
Looks good but instead of a poll we should have it where users have to put their signature, that way we can make sure people aren't cheating. RainbowShifter 16:45, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
I could, but I don't think that is wise, as only registered users would put the vote, plus they would need to find the button first, not to mention vandals can remove the votes. Everyone can put their vote on the <poll> (even the unregistered) and wouldn't need to edit it. That is my suggestion. Energy X 17:10, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
Well, whichever is easiest! RainbowShifter 17:13, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
The <poll> is more practical, I wouldn't worry too much about extra votes. What is left some questions - we need some comments from PokéPower members (hopefully we will have enough for switching every week). Also, should I make this or can we switch roles every month or so? Energy X 17:21, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
Yes that would be a nice idea. For the first few (until we get new members), you and myself should do it (well because we are the only active PokéPower members). Oh and your application was accepted! RainbowShifter 17:44, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

So for your tournament would we be putting it on a blog? And if so would you like me to comment on it while it is in your Sandbox? RainbowShifter 19:40, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

Well, it won't be the whole tournament on one blog, it would be one fight per one blog, if that is what you are worried about. Well, I am not sure what we could do about this comment thing, but I have another idea, perhaps we could share a bit of news in that section...? Anyway, there is a need to write an introduction before the fight. Energy X 19:58, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah I think I phrased that badly! I was hoping it would be one fight per blog. Yes instead of just introducing the fight we could also say some of the news surrounding the fighting Pokémon (if any). RainbowShifter 20:07, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
I tested and now we need to have a blog and a page. The blog would cover the poll and the info about recent events, while the page like "Pokémon Wiki:FoB", would have the part about which Pokémon are battling (via <includeonly> tag). What would be required is to write {{Pokémon Wiki:FoB}}. Then we don't have to worry about editing the Main Page every time, as it would be transcluded from "Pokémon Wiki:FoB" page. The link depends on the user who created the blog. It should look similar like this:

{{User:Energy X/Sandbox}}

The blog itself has to have everything on the "Pokémon Wiki:FoB" page. Well, if everything passes, I am sure we can do this on Saturday or so. Energy X 23:37, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

I don't truly see the exact point of this, other than that it has rabbit trailed. I think that I will be re-writing the PokéPower rules tomorrow, and will be showing you all the new and updated rules for PokéPower, I will be taking care of removing old members and putting them in an honorary list showing that they were previous grandeur users. I think that we should still honor those that have left us. PokéPower will be granted to those who show good editing skills and such-not, PokéPower will not be a group that you join and then edit stuff because you're now part of it, PokéPower will be a group right granted to those who show initiative to edit and fix things, and it will be almost a reward group, in other words, an Extra Honor. I don't like the idea of it being a group for user's to join just because they want to edit the front page.   Slay Talk  "Shadows wonder why we scream."01:17,10/8/2013    [[Special:EditCount/Slayingthehalcyon|Special:EditCount/Slayingthehalcyon]]

Perhaps, but you can see this as a way to get the editors attention and recruit new members, to show them that it would be beneficial to them - and us - to join. Energy X 12:08, October 8, 2013 (UTC)
