It's kinda bothering me about IVs and EVs being the key to a powerful team. But are both equally important? Is it possible to have IVs for all stats but low EVs and vice-versa still be able to win many battles or is it necessary to have them both at a high level? This is what I'm confused about. Anyone have an answer to it? Jace Seville (talk) 22:21, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

I've always thought of EVs as being more helpful. The stat boost from EVs is quite a bit higher than IVs. Certainly, IV breeding certain pokemon could be helpful, but I've never really bothered since it's so time consuming and tedious. Plus, I like to raise a bunch of different ones. Many people on message boards/Smogon seem to think that IVs are really important, but there's a big difference between having good IVs on a battle simulator vs the actual game (mainly in terms of how long it takes). Also, you're likely to have pokemon with average IVs (15 or so out of 31), which has less of an impact on final stats than using/not using 252 EVs on a stat, if that makes sense. --Shockstorm (talk) 21:16, January 13, 2013 (UTC)
