OriginsEdit

DesignEdit

Foongus appears to be based on a mushroom and a Poké Ball.

EtymologyEdit

Foongus' name may come from fool and fungus. Also, if the names of Foongus and its evolved form, Amoonguss, are put together, it sounds like the phrase "Fungus among us."

Trivia Edit

  • Foongus is the fourth Pokémon to resemble a Poké Ball, the others being Voltorb, Electrode, and its evolved form Amoonguss. However, unlike the others, it only has a Poké Ball design on it, instead of being in the shape of one.
  • It is the fifth Pokémon that is based on a mushroom, the first four are Paras, Parasect, Shroomish, and Breloom.
  • Like the Voltorb line, Foongus will sometimes show up as an item ball, symbolized as a Poké Ball, in the grass; once interacted with, the "Poké Ball" will attack the player.
  • When a Foongus is mistakenly touched due to its item-like appearance on the screen, it shows a Poké Ball jump up a short length and then come down, causing a small puff of dust.
  • A Pokémon trainer has reported catching a Foongus holding a TinyMushroom .
