Outside of Battle[]

In Generation I And II as well as Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, using Flash in a dark caves illuminates the area until the player exits the cave.

In other Generation III to V games, using it in dark caves only makes a large circle of visible area, but cannot fully illuminate the cave.

In Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, using Flash in a cave causes the screen to zoom out instead, as there are no dark caves in the game.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, dark caves are simply dim, but the whole screen is still visible. Using Flash once again illuminates the area.

In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! flash is replaced with the Secret Technique light up.
