A Fisherman is a type of Trainer Class introduced in Generation I. They are men wearing a fisherman's outfit and holding a fishing rod. They are found commonly near bodies of water. They use Water-type Pokemon, commonly Pokemon you can obtain by fishing.

- At least once in every game, there is a Fisherman with a team of nothing but Magikarp.
- Throughout Generation III and IV, the fisherman's outfits are red. This finally changed to blue in Generation V.
