A Fisherman is a Trainer Class that was introduced in Generation I. They are men wearing a fisherman's outfit and holding a fishing rod. They are found commonly near bodies of water. They use Water-type Pokémon, more specifically Pokémon one can obtain by fishing.

Trivia
- At least once in every game, there is a Fisherman with a team of only Magikarp.
- Throughout Generation III and Generation IV, the fisherman's outfits are red. This finally changed to blue in Generation V.
