With a Spoink in Your Step I (Japanese: VS バネブー I, HepburnVS Spoink I) is the 6th chapter of Pokémon Adventures: Volume 21.

Synopsis[]

Ruby and Sapphire find themselves on Mirage Island. For the sake of the Hoenn region, they begin their training with Juan, Tate and Liza.

Chapter plot[]

Ruby and Sapphire are surprised to be on this strange place. Juan calms both of them down, and introduces himself as Wallace's master and Gym Leader of Sootopolis City in Wallace's absence. He also informs them they are on Mirage Island, isolated from Hoenn region. Juan sends Kingdra, who uses its water powers to show Ruby and Sapphire what is happening. They see Groudon and Kyogre are still fighting each other. Juan tells them just when the meteorite hit Maxie and Archie, they both lost the orbs and couldn't be controlled by these two ancient Pokémon. After the blast, Juan led both children to this island. However, the collision between Groudon and Kyogre has caused a blast, which spreads away from Sootopolis City. Juan worries the ancient battle is repeating all over again.

Luckily, they can rest for a bit, since the old and new champions, the Elite Four and the legendary Golems (who, thanks to Sapphire's help, were summoned in time), have subsided the blast. Ruby is told Wallace is the champion now, since Steven passed the Champion's cloak to him. However, this only delays time, time which Ruby and Sapphire are to put in training before the grand fight. Juan has Tate and Liza send Spoink, who use Extrasensory. Ruby and Sapphire are blown away, so send Fofo and Rono.

Juan admits this is just to get the training started. Ruby has Fofo use Weather Ball, but Juan's Kingdra intercepts the attack with Water Pulse. Seeing Juan battles in a similar way like Wallace, Ruby considers Juan his master as well. Since others are counting on them to stop Groudon and Kyogre, Ruby accepts Juan's request, naming him as the Grand Master. Juan is pleased about both of them, so has Ruby and Sapphire battle Tate and Liza in a Double Battle, as a start. Juan admits he found them battling illusions of Slugma and rescued them. However, Juan remembers they have to hurry, for Ruby and Sapphire have been three days on the island, but this counts as 21 days outside the island.

Liza reports she has detected a presence of two Pokémon. From a bush, Plusle and Minun appear, along with a diary.
