Kyle was an impressive coordinator who cleared the first round of the Wallace Cup easily. He later battled Ash's Buizel using his Lanturn. After a few hits, he defeated Buizel with Thunderbolt, thus moving to the next round.
He faced Dawn in the semi-finals, but lost to her Piplup.
