Cinnabar Island is a location introduced in Generation I.
Description[]
Cinnabar Island is an island in the Kanto region featuring a large volcano. In the Generation I and Generation III core series titles, it is where the player can face off against the seventh Gym Leader, Blaine, in the Cinnabar Island Gym. Both the Cinnabar Lab and the Pokémon Mansion are also located here. Various journals found in the Pokémon Mansion reveal that Cinnabar Island is where Mew was cloned to create Mewtwo. Before the player can access Cinnabar Island Gym, they have to obtain the Secret Key in the Pokémon Mansion.
In the Generation I games, the coast on the East side of Cinnabar Island is well known for the MissingNo. glitch, as well as other similarly exploitable glitches like 'M. There are two ways to go to Cinnabar Island; the main method is to through the Seafoam Islands, but it is also possible to go to Cinnabar Island by going to Pallet Town and surfing south from there.
In Generation II and the Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version remakes, Cinnabar Island has been destroyed in a volcanic eruption, having destroyed every building on the island except the Pokémon Center. Because of this, Blaine was forced to relocate his gym to the Seafoam Islands.

Generation I[]
Cinnabar Island has a population of 33 people.
Generation II[]
The island population is 9 people, all only present in the Pokémon Center, due to the eruption that had happened a year before the events of Pokémon Gold and Silver.
Generation III []
FireRed and LeafGreen adds three more people to the island, making the population 36.
Generation IV[]
In HeartGold & SoulSilver, the island's population is 9. The only building on the island is a Pokémon Center since the island has been overwhelmed by an eruption a year prior to the game's events. In addition, rocky walls can be found on the island that can be scaled by using Rock Climb.
Trivia[]
- Cinnabar Island is based on the real-life Izu Ōshima, a volcanic island located off the coast of Japan. The volcano's last major eruption in 1986 forced a temporary evacuation of the island.
