Berries are small fruits that grow on Berry trees. They are held items and ingredients for foods like Pokéblocks and Poffins.
Berries were first introduced in Generation II to make use of the held item mechanic, along with Apricorns. All of the introduced Berries were replaced with a different set of Berries in Generation III, and the number of Berries continued to expand in Generation IV and later Generation VI.
