Amoonguss (Japanese: モロバレル, HepburnMorobareru) (uh-MOON-gus[1]) is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Amoonguss is a large mushroom-like Pokémon that has a Poké Ball pattern on its cap. It has a bulky, thick, stem-like body that is mainly gray in color. It has two arms with round, disc-like Poké Ball shapes on the ends of each. Its base is black and it has small eyes and a large, pink-lipped mouth.

Behavior[]

It tends to lure in foes by swaying the Poké Ball-like caps on their arms. However, this often doesn't work. They prefer to live in damp places.

Evolution[]

Amoonguss evolves from Foongus, at level 39.

Trivia[]

  • Amoonguss and it's pre evolved form's shiny resemble the coloration of a Master Ball.
  • Amoonguss and it's pre evolution share similarities with the Paras and Shroomish line. All 6 are known as the Mushroom Pokemon, can have Effect Spore as an ability, and can all use the move Spore.

Origin[]

Amoonguss appears to be based on a mushroom disguised as a Poké Ball. It may take after the mimic-type enemy archetype in RPGs, similar to Electrode.

Etymology[]

Amoonguss comes from amanita (a type of mushroom with a similar appearance to Amoonguss) and fungus. Paired with the name of Foongus, it sounds similar to the phrase "Fungus among us".
