The Fairy type (フェアリータイプ Fearī taipu in Japanese) is one of the eighteen Pokémon elemental types.
This type was introduced in Generation VI, to balance the power the Dragon type had, just like the Dark and Steel types did in Generation II.
Fairy-type Pokémon are mostly cute, pink or feminine in appearance, but even though, Fairy-type Pokémon can be really powerful. Fairy types also have some magical appeal to them. As an oppose to Psychic-type Pokémon, Fairy-type Pokémon have powers related to magic and supernatural powers, instead of mind power.
The only known famous Fairy-type Pokémon Trainer is Valerie, the sixth Gym Leader of the Kalos region.
