Trivia

  • Excadrill was among eight Pokémon revealed on the show Oha Suta on June 27, 2010. It was officially revealed on the October issue of Coro Coro on September 11, 2010.
  • Excadrill's name is (as is its pre evolved form) form the word Excalibur.
  • Excadrill's name is a combination of the words "excavate" and "drill".

Origin

Excadrill is based on a mole and a drill.

Etymology

Excadrill's name is derived from the words "excavate" and "drill".

Its Japanese name is likely a combination of ドリルズ Doriruzu, drills, and 竜 ryū, dragon, the reading of the second kanji on 土竜 mogura, mole, when by itself.
