Games

Erika owned a Tangela in all main Pokémon games. It debuted in Pokémon Red and Green, being at Lv. 24 and knowing Bind and Constrict.

Anime

Erika used Tangela in her Gym Battle against Ash. Using Constrict Tangela nullified Bulbasaur's Vine Whip and after Tangela's Stun Spore, Ash called his Bulbasaur back.

Manga

Kanto

In Pokémon Adventures, Erika's Tangela debuted when it stood in Red's path when he wanted to ride the bike to Celadon City. Later, Erika used Tangela to battle Red's Saur and won by hitting him with Vine Whip.

Later, Erika appeared in front of Yellow with Vileplume and Tangela, giving her advice on finding Red. Also, when the Kanto cities were under attack of Elite Four's armies, Erika used Vileplume and Tangela to fight back against the Shellder army.
