Revision as of 07:15, 6 January 2016
The Dragon type (ドラゴンタイプ Doragon taipu in Japanese) is one of the eighteen Pokémon elemental types.
The Dragon type is an ancestral type, as many of the Legendary Dragon-type Pokémon are considered as deities. Other Dragon-type Pokémon are hard to catch and hard to train. They also evolve late, and are relatively rare. An interesting fact is how many Dragon-type Pokémon surpass common stats.
Because of this last fact, people who train Dragon-type Pokémon get to be famous, just like Lance (last member of the Kanto Elite Four and then Johto champion), Clair (Blackthorn City Gym Leader), Drake (last member of the Hoenn Elite Four), Iris (Gym Leader of Opelucid City and then Unova champion), Drayden (Opelucid City Gym Leader) and Drasna (member of the Kalos Elite Four).

- There are 13 Dragon-type moves.

- In Generation IV, 5 moves were introduced.
- In Generation V, 2 moves were introduced.
- In Generation VI, no moves have been introduced.
- In battles: Special moves stand out.
- In contests: Cool moves stand out.

Relations with other types
- They're weak against themselves because any other force of nature could outstand a dragon, except for another dragon.
- They're weak against the Ice type because dragons are similar to reptiles, and reptiles are cold blooded, which causes them to be weak against cold temperatures.
- The Steel type resists them because in legends, knights used armors of that material to defend themselves when they were to face a dragon.
- They're weak against the Fairy type because in mythology, fairies' magic could dominate oriental dragons, while in European legends, where dragons were immune to magic, it is a common theme in fairy tales that knights slay the dragon. Plus, it needed to be easier to catch a Pokemon that could have Super-Effective attacks.
- They're resistant to the Grass, Fire, Water and Electric types because in old legends, dragons were immune to the nature forces.
