Cryogonal (Japanese: フリージオ Furiijio) is an Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
Biology
Physiology
Cryogonal is a Pokémon that resembles a living snowflake. Its flat blue body, composed of ice, is hexagonal in shape. It has deep-set eerily glowing blue eyes and an open mouth from which it forms chains of ice crystals.
Behavior
Cryogonal is capable of turning into steam and vanishing when the temperature rises; it returns to its normal icy state when the temperature lowers again. These Pokémon are born in snow clouds. In order to capture prey it creates chains of ice crystals that extend from its open mouth.
Evolution
Crogonal does not evolve.
Anime
Cryogonal appeared in BW081: Caution: Icy Battle Conditions!, as one of Brycen's Pokémon. Mutiples of Cryogonals are seen when they're with their master: Kyurem in the movie called "Kyurem VS The Sword of Justice", and they also appear in BW104: Team Eevee and the Pokémon Rescue Squad!

Trivia
- Cryogonal is currently the only non-legendary, pure Ice-type to not have a branching or linear evolution.
- Currently, Cryogonal and Mew are the only genderless Pokémon that can learn Attract (although they can only learn Attract via TM), however, the move always fails.
- Cryogonal is the only Ice-type Pokémon that can learn Haze despite it being an Ice-type move.
Origin
Cryogonal is based on a snowflake.
Etymology
Its English name is a combination of the words "cryogenics" (the production and effect under freezing temperatures) and "hexagonal" (the Pokémon's hexagon-shaped body).
