Chuck's Poliwrath was a powerful Pokemon who battled against Ash's Pikachu when Ash challenged Chuck to a Gym battle. It was quite fast, being capable of dodging several of Pikachu's electric attacks, although one Thunderbolt did hit it. However Poliwrath recovered and knocked Pikachu out with DoubleSlap. Poliwrath was then defeated by Ash's Bayleef. Chuck had a close relationship with Poliwrath, crying with pride even though Poliwrath had been defeated.
