Chinchou (Japanese: チョンチー Chonchii) is a Water/Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. The Chinchou family is unique because of their ability, Volt Absorb, being the only Water-types able to have it.

Contents

Appearance Edit

Chinchou resembles a small deep-sea fish with an oval-shaped body, two small fin-like arms, a pair of stubby legs, and two long antennas tipped with a yellow bulb-shaped sac. Chinchou also has two yellow eyes, each with a proton-shaped pupil.

Behavior Edit

Chinchou can release negatively charged electricity from its antennas as means of hunting, self defense, and communication.

Special abilities Edit

Chinchou has the abilities Volt Absorb and Illuminate. Volt Absorb heals Chinchou's HP by a quarter when hit by an electric-type move. Illuminate increases the rate of encountering wild Pokémon if Chinchou is placed in the first slot of your party.

EvolutionEdit

Chinchou evolves into Lanturn at level 27.

In the anime Edit

Several Chinchou played a very minor part in Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, they helped destroy The Phantom's ship by overpowering and destroying his electrical equipment.
