- Chespin seems to resemble a tree - the head is compared as leaves and the body the lower part of the tree.
- Chespin is the first Grass-type starter Pokémon that is not reptile-based but based on a mammal, in this case a rodent or a marsupial.
- Chespin will be the third grass starter to stand on two legs, with the first being Treecko and the second being Snivy.
- Chespin bears a resemblance to Generation V starter Oshawott.
