Cherrygrove City is a small city located in Johto. It is the first city the players finds in this region..
The population of Cherrygrove City is about 12. This makes it the second-smallest city in the Johto region. This area is where the player battles his/her Rival for the first time.
Areas of Interest
Guide Gent, who is originally located near the town's east entrance, will offer the player a tour of the city. The tour route includes the Pokémon Center, Poké Mart, the exit to Route 30, the coast, and Guide Gent's house. After the tour is complete, the player receives the Map Card for their PokéGear. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the player also receives the running shoes.
Cherrygrove City has no Gym; however, like its counterparts Viridian City, Oldale Town, and Sandgem Town, it mainly acts as a tutorial for the player, introducing them to concepts such as the Pokémon Center, Poké Mart, etc.
The bottom half of a lake is seen behind the trees to the northeast of the town, and the upper half can be seen from the southwest of Route 30. It is inaccessible in Pokémon Gold and Silver; however, in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Route 30 allows the player to travel to the pond through an extension. Different Pokémon can be caught depending on where the player caught the Pokémon.
