Brine Cave is a dungeon in Explorers of Time and Darkness and Explorers of Sky, visited during Chapter 18.

Brine Cave is located directly north of Treasure Town on the Wonder Map.

Plot[]

As the partner shows Torkoal the Relic Fragment, which has a "strange pattern" on it, Wigglytuff and Chatot mention that they have seen a similar pattern in Brine Cave, although there was also "a vicious bandit" in the cave. The guild decides to go to Brine Cave the next day, with Chatot guiding the player's team to where the strange pattern is. Meanwhile, at night, Wigglytuff has already gone to Brine Cave and meet Lapras.

The next day, with Wigglytuff still not come back, Chatot leads the guild to Brine Cave, and the player is accompanied by Chatot. However, in the waypoint between Brine Cave B9F and Lower Brine Cave B1F, Team Skull appears and takes away the Relic Fragment. Angered, Chatot quickly follows Team Skull, leaving the player's team to finish the Lower Brine Cave by themselves.

At Brine Cave Pit, the last floor, the player and their partner find Team Skull, already being defeated. The partner take back the Relic Fragment from them and continues, and finds Chatot ahead, warning them to stay alert and claiming that the "bandits" are lurking somewhere nearby. Eventually, he figures out that they attacked him and Wigglytuff from above, and looks on the ceiling, revealing them — one Kabutops and two Omastar. Chatot shields the Player and Partner from their attack, leaving the two to battle Kabutops and Omastar.

After they are defeated, Wigglytuff and Grovyle appears, then the rest of the guild members, apparently still get shocked by Grovyle. As Chatot faints at last, the player, their partner and Grovyle continues to the room ahead, which has an opening to the sea and the pattern. The partner places the Relic Fragment in front of the pattern, and the two patterns react and glow, emitting a beam of light to the sea that summons Lapras, who later carries them to the Hidden Land.

At night, it is revealed that, during Wigglytuff and Chatot's journey, Chatot shielded Kabutops and Omastar's attack from Wigglytuff and got knocked out. Not knowing what to do, Wigglytuff panics, and Lapras appeared, saving Chatot. Lapras did not intend to reveal himself, but he had to help when she saw Chatot on the ground. Later, Lapras and Wigglytuff made a promise not to investigate the pattern, since it is related to the Hidden Land where the Temporal Tower is located, and Dialga does not want intruders to wreak havoc there.
