Trivia

  • Brawly's name is a play on the word BRAWL, which means to fight since he is a Fighting-type Pokémon trainer.
  • Brawly's original name "Touki" can be derived from the kanji "Tōki" (闘気) which means "Fighting Spirit".
  • Both Brawly's and Chuck's gyms are located on islands that have a mountain nearby.
  • In the anime, Brawly's Makuhita evolves into Hariyama.
  • In the anime, Brawly is voiced by Jason Griffith, who also voiced Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • The lighting on his hair color differs in appearance. In his artwork and in-game sprite in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald appears to be dark blue, but his anime appearance, in-game sprite in Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 and artwork from Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire appears to be sky blue.
