Solrock was able to overcome its type disadvantage by using a super effective SolarBeam against the Water type, defeating Squirtle. It then battled Ash's Bulbasaur and after a difficult battle, both Pokémon launched their SolarBeams at the same time, resulting in an explosion which knocked them both out.
