Blue captured his Pidgeotto as Pidgey. He captured it at Chapter 11 but let it to the day care because it was weak. It wouldn't appear again until Chapter 13 when Blue got it back, and after a hard battle with a trainer's Butterfree it evolved into a Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto proved his strength when it beat Lt. Surge Electabuzz, though later it was beaten by Lt. Surge Raichu. Later it beats a trainer's Venonat even if later it lost from Team Rocket's Pokémon
