Blue captured his Pidgeotto as Pidgey. He captured it at Chapter 11 but left it at the Day Care because it was weak. It wouldn't appear again until Chapter 13 when Blue got it back, and after a hard battle with a trainer's Butterfree it evolved into a Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto proved its strength when it beat Lt. Surge's Electabuzz, though later it was beaten by Lt. Surge's Raichu. Later, it beats a trainer's Venonat even if later it lost from Team Rocket's Pokémon
