Name originEdit

  • It is possible that the English name for Blitzle was named such because Blitz, in German, means lightning.
  • Its name could be a combination of Blitz and Dazzle.

TriviaEdit

  • It shares similarities with Pikachu as it is the first Electric Pokémon in their Regional Pokédexes and are a part of a 2 stage evolution line in their respective generations.
  • Shimama is a corruption of the Japanese word シマウマ Shimauma, meaning "zebra."
  • This Pokémon was revealed along with six other Pokémon in July's issue of CoroCoro on June 11, 2010.
  • Blitzle is the first Zebra Pokémon.
  • Blitzle is the third horse-like Pokémon, the first being Ponyta, the second being Rapidash and the fourth being Zebstrika.
