Serperior launches Solar Beam, defeating Heatmor in an instant. Trip calls Serperior back and looks at Ash, then goes away. Next are Cilan and Horatio. Georgia believes Burgundy would be a better Connoisseur if she looked up to Cilan, which enrages Burgundy. Cilan sends Stunfisk against Horatio's Cinccino. Cynthia approaches Dragonite, who dismisses her. Cynthia feels that Dragonite does not trust humans, clarifying that it should relax, and that it needs to let its guard down. Iris sees for herself how amazing Cynthia is. Back on the battlefield, Stunfisk uses Sludge Bomb, defeating Cinccino. Georgia asks Burgundy where her evaluation is. Burgundy replies she won't waste her skills on this battle, so Georgia thinks Burgundy is quiet because Georgia would scold her. Burgundy brushes her off, so Georgia proves her point.

Iris comes back and hears that Cilan won. Next is Ash, who is visited by Meloetta. Ash sends Boldore against Geraldo's Reuniclus. Boldore uses Flash Cannon, targeting Reuniclus. Meanwhile, Trip sees Cynthia, who is eating an ice cream. Cynthia remembers him, but wonders why he's not watching the battles. Trip replies that he already has strategies against his challengers. Cynthia wishes him luck, while Trip says to himself that once he beats Alder, she's his next opponent. Meanwhile, Boldore uses Rock Blast, defeating Reuniclus. The final match is Iris vs. Dawn. Georgia wishes that in Iris' quest to become a Dragon Master, Iris should make Dragonite obey her. Iris sends out Dragonite, while Dawn brings out Mamoswine. Both Dawn and Iris are determined to give their best to win.
  +
  +
Mamoswine starts off with Hidden Power, and Dragonite dodges the attack per Iris' orders. However, when Dawn has Mamoswine use Ice Shard and Iris calls for Dragonite to dodge again, he goes back to ignoring her and endures the hit. Georgia wonders why Dragonite is being so stubborn, while Burgundy believes that he simply prefers to take his opponents' attacks. Mamoswine then uses Take Down on Dragonite, who charges head on, ignoring Iris' orders. Both clash, though Dragonite manages to stop Mamoswine. Mamoswine then uses Ice Shard, hitting Dragonite point-blank. Using raw force, Dragonite flips Mamoswine over and throws it down. Iris is enraged, for even though Dragonite proved he is strong, he still won't listen to her. Dawn and Mamoswine are still good to battle, to which Iris tries to explain to Dragonite that they can only win as a team, but he dismisses her.
  +
  +
Dawn orders another Take Down, and Iris tells Dragonite to dodge, but the latter once again clashes head on with Mamoswine, getting pushed back. Mamoswine then uses Ice Shard, and Dragonite takes the hit, ignoring Iris' command to use Flamethrower. Mamoswine uses Ice Fang, and Dragonite grabs its tusks. When his arms begin to freeze, Dragonite breaks free, flies up, and finishes off Mamoswine with Dragon Rush. Burgundy sees Iris managed to win, but Georgia corrects her, claiming that Dragonite won, not Iris. Dawn calls Mamoswine back and congratulates Iris, who replies she only won by a hair. Dawn wishes her luck in the semi-finals. Cynthia sees that when Dragonite starts listening to Iris, the duo will certainly be powerful.
  +
  +
The screen displays the semi-finals, so Cilan will fight Trip and Iris is matched with Ash. Iris and Ash remind themselves of Nimbasa Tournament, in which Excadrill defeated Pikachu. First are Cilan and Trip, the latter trying to prove power is everything. Cilan senses Trip is already preparing for the battle against Alder, but he is here to stop Trip. Trip sends out Serperior against Cilan's Crustle. Cilan knew Trip would use Serperior. Serperior uses Leer on Crustle, who hides in its rock, negating the move. Serperior then uses Solar Beam, which hits Crustle, who retaliates with X-Scissor. Serperior evades, so Crustle uses Rock Slide. Serperior dodges again and defeats Crustle using Frenzy Plant.
  +
  +
Cilan calls Crustle back, angering Burgundy, who wonders how Cilan calls himself an A-Class Connoisseur with that defeat. Alder admits it was powerful, but senses it will go so far. Trip aims to prove his point by beating Alder. Ash admits to Cilan that was a good battle, knowing Serperior is an awesome Pokémon and is looking forward to battle it. Outside, Iris asks Dragonite to listen to her. Dawn approaches her and lets her know that she once had the same issue with Mamoswine. She assures Iris that Dragonite will listen to her one day. On the battle field, Ash sends Krokorok and Iris sends out Dragonite.

Battling Authority Once Again! (Japanese: パワーバトル!アイリスVSヒカリ!!, HepburnPower Battle! Iris VS Dawn!) is the 43rd episode of Pokémon: BW Rival Destinies.

Synopsis

It’s time for the second round of the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup, and Ash, Cilan, Iris, Dawn, and Trip are all in the hunt! A very confident Trip is up first, again winning his bout quickly despite a type disadvantage and moving on to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Iris steps outside to try to convince Dragonite to listen to her commands when they battle, instead of doing whatever it wants. But it appears to be a tough sell for the headstrong Pokémon—although a few wise words from Cynthia seem to be getting through. While she’s gone, Cilan defeats his opponent thanks to some remarkable teamwork with his Stunfisk. Then, with help from Boldore, Ash moves into the semi-finals as well!

The last battle of the round is Iris versus Dawn! It’s a clash of giants indeed, as the towering Dragonite faces off against the gargantuan Mamoswine—and at first it seems Dragonite is actually paying attention to Iris, as it obeys her first command to dodge! But it quickly reverts to its usual tactic of taking every attack head-on, and Iris gets more and more frustrated as Dawn and Mamoswine display excellent coordination. Once again, Dragonite manages to win the match on its own, and after a friendly pep talk from Dawn, Iris is even more determined to connect with her stubborn Pokémon.

The semi-finals get under way, and the first match is Trip versus Cilan! Trip has his eyes on the ultimate prize—a battle against Unova Champion Alder—and he’s secretly planning to challenge Sinnoh Champion Cynthia as well. Cilan is hoping Trip’s arrogance will make him careless—but no such luck, as Serperior manages to get through Crustle’s impressive defenses and knock Cilan out of the tournament.

Next up, it’s Ash and his Krokorok versus Iris and her Dragonite! Which of our heroes will be moving on to face Trip in the finals?[1]

Episode plot

The screen presents the second round challengers. Trip will fight Manny, Cilan is paired against Horatio, Ash will battle Geraldo and the last battle is Iris vs. Dawn. Dawn knows well they would eventually battle each other, so wishes Iris luck. Georgia hopes Iris won't lose to anyone but her. Burgundy asks if that means she's rooting for Iris, but Georgia denies this. First is Trip, who sends Serperior, against Manning and his Heatmor. Cilan expects a good match, while Iris is concerned with Dragonite, who isn't listening to her. She thinks of Dragonite's last battle, then runs away. Outside, she brings out Dragonite, letting him know him shouldn't attack without her guidance. She tries to bond with him, but Dragonite refuses. Cynthia appears, seeing Iris' problem.

Cilan calls Crustle back, angering Burgundy, who wonders how Cilan calls himself an A-Class Connoisseur with that defeat. Alder admits it was powerful, but senses it will go so far. Outside, Iris asks Dragonite to listen to her. Dawn approaches her and lets her know that she once had the same issue with Mamoswine. She assures Iris that Dragonite will listen to her one day. On the battle field, Ash sends Krokorok and Iris sends out Dragonite.
