Episode Plot
A relaxing day at the beach, fun in the sun, and a whole horde of Onix! Just as Ash and co. are spending their time to have fun and start their expedition on Onix Island after they arrive here turns out to be a quest for survival as they try to avoid one Onix attack after another. The worst part is Iris, Dawn and Axew are separated for the group when they ran away in opposite directions trying to get out of the cave. Will they find the guys again and get out of here? And will Dawn's Piplup and Ash's Oshawott ever get along instead of fighting over for Meloetta since she comes along?

- Piplup and Oshawott work together to keep the Onix away and get along once but in the end, they're rivals over Meloetta again.
- Piplup learns Water Pulse.

- Dawn and Iris agreeing on everything is a reference since the anime is practiclly the same but with different Pokemon and regions since Generation 4.
- This is the third time an image of another pokemon appears on the Pokédex when Dawn scanned Krabby and its evolved form Kingler. First was BW067: Battling the Bully! with Scolipede and Seismitoad. Second was BW082: Clash of the Connoisseurs! with Petilil and Whimsicott.
- When Ash told Oshawott that his Water Gun needs more power than that if they're going to win the Junior Cup, Hydro Pump would've been much stronger than Water Gun since they haven't master it in training.
- At first, Bianca told Ash's Oshawott to use Hydro Pump once, but he hasn't learn it yet in BW013: Minccino-Neat and Tidy!, but until 76 episodes later, he did learn it while taking out waves of Onix with Piplup in order to protect Meloetta.
- It also reflects on how Ash will use his Pokédex to scan the same Pokémon in each generation.
- Meloetta changes into her Pirouette Form for the first time making this the first time in the anime to show both of Meloetta's forms.
- The title theme of Arceus and the Jewel of Life is heard again in the end since BW064, BW065, BW069, BW080, and BW086.
- Despite the clips when Dawn, Iris, and Axew's face like screaming at the Onix is right of front of them, including Ash, Cilan, Pikachu, Oshawott, Pansage, and Piplup
Goofs
- Oshawott and Piplup got all dizzy when they hit their heads on the rock body of an Onix with Aqua Jet and Headbutt.
- The way Piplup used BubbleBeam on Onix would be impossible to blow up one big bubble and throw it at its face with your hands to score a direct hit.
