Episode Plot

After hearing the news that the Opelucid Gym is closed, and the advice given by Mr. Hattori's butler, Ash and co. decide to head for the port to board a boat to Virbank City for Ash's final Gym Challenge. On the way they encounter Iris' rival Georgia and her Vanilluxe who has a personality of making friends with a Dragon-type Pokemon like Axew. She's on her way to Ferroseed Research looking for moss that powers up the Pokémon's skills created from the thorns of a Ferroseed. However, as Ash and co. take a tour around their research with a lab research assistant Case who's being a tour guide, the power of the chargestones those Ferroseeds absorbs (that came from Chargestone Cave), releases much more moss, grows out of control in the 3rd floor and covers the whole building, and spreading everything in its path. Not only that, those moss spores that any Ground or Electric-type Pokemons inhaled it would cause a reaction that make them feel sick. And with Iris trapped on the roof with Axew, Oshawott and Georgia's Vanilluxe, how will she get out of this one? By telling Vanilluxe to use Icy Wind because the moss is vulnerable to Ice-type moves. Now that they know the moss' weakness, Ash and co. along with the scientists would need help from Ice-type Pokemons like Georgia's Beartic to fight their way to the 3rd floor in order for them to remove excess electricity from the Ferroseeds' body to stop the moss from growing.

  • The setting of this episode in the beginning looks all the same like they're back in Castelia City. In case it would've been the reason why Mr. Hattori's butler told them to go to Virbank City in the first place when they're transported here from limo in the last episode.
  • As of this point, all the members of the Vanillite evolution family have appeared under the ownership of a rival trainer: Trip has a Vanillite in BW034: Ash and Trip's Third Battle!. Brycen has a Vanillish in BW081: Caution: Icy Battle Conditions!. And Georgia now has a Vanilluxe.
  • This marks the second three episodes when the entire pokemon evolution family has three trainers. Ash has captured Gible in DP157: Gotta Get a Gible!. Ursula has a Gabite in DP114: Another One Gabites the Dust. And Champion Cynthia has a Garchomp in DP040: Top-Down Training!.
  • Georgia's Vanilluxe is confirmed to be female when it takes a liking to Iris' Axew, but not Ash's Oshawott anyway with his majority crush.
  • It's been 42 episodes earlier since they last saw Georgia's Beartic.
  • This is the second episode in a row when main characters meet their rivals again to the other after the Clubsplosion. First, was Burgundy in the last episode and now they met Georgia.
  • The chargestones from Chargestone Cave those researchers got makes its third appearance since BW064: Crisis at Chargestone Cave! when Team Rocket forced all of those Joltiks and Galvantulas off so they could steal them all for Dr. Zager to power up his fossil restoration machine. With the computer data they've stole from Prof. Juniper and Dr. Fennel in BW039: Archeops In The Modern World! in order to restore Tirtouga from a Cover Fossil in Twist Mountain in BW077: A Restoration Confrontation! (Part 1) and 2 to use its life energy to keep the expanded space-time warp called the "Time Gate" open, so they can capture all of the Ancient Pokemons from the past.
  • The animation of Pignite when Ash sends out was the same as Bianca's Pignite in BW013: Minccino-Neat and Tidy!.
  • This episode may share similarities, and differences from the episode, BW064: Crisis at Chargestone Cave! because, its about how the chargestones are being used as.
  • Iris narrates the preview of this episode. (Japan Only)
  • Who's that Pokemon?: Ferroseed (US).

  • After Georgia calls out Vanilluxe and still like Axew the most, Ash's Oshawott comes out on his own because he thought Vanilluxe like him.
  • After Oshawott kept on chasing Vanilluxe to the roof for a long time to love her, the hearts eyes came off of him when he realized that Vanilluxe wasn't in love with him after all when she angrily use Icy Wind to freeze him away.
  • Georgia never noticed that Ash and co. came in to check out Ferroseed Research until now after she got there. Which she assumes that they started following her.
  • When Georgia ask them a question on when exactly they should come with her because she didn't when its all true even if she ask them.
  • Iris had been goofed when she sends out Excadrill and Emolga even though she doesn't know what Cilan meant about the moss would make a reaction to cause a pokemon to be sick, if they're an Electric-type or a Ground-type so they can't attack. Which forced her to call back Excadrill and Emolga for now.
  • Oshawott thinks his Water-type move like Water Gun would force the moss back but the moss would surely grow back faster if it absorbs more water.

  • Georgia's Vanilluxe: "VA-NIL-LUXE!"

As she used Icy Wind on Oshawott.

  • Ash's Oshawott: "Wott? Osh-a-wott?"

Then zapped.

  • Ash's Oshawott: "OSH-OSH-OSH-OSH-OSH-OSH-A-OSH-A-WOTT!"
  • "Quite a kick."

Iris and Georgia after being shocked by Pikachu.

  • Ash's Pikachu: "Pi-ka Pi-ka."
