Episode Plot
Just as they were about to leave Nimbasa City, Ash and co. meet with Trip again, who has five badges over Ash's four. Later they meet the Unova Champion Alder, the man who inspired Trip to be a Pokémon trainer when he was a kid, only to see that now many years later, he's a goofy guy. He challenges Ash to a battle and Ash gladly accepts. Who will win this battle? No one, because he accidentally fell asleep during the battle. And what in the world is going on in Alder's head anyway since a wild Gigalith goes out on an all out rampage?

- Though Ash has befriended old Champions like Johto's Lance, Hoenn's Steven Stone/Wallace and Sinnoh's Cynthia, this is the first time Ash battled a champ other than his rival Trip's wishes too.
- This is the third episode in a row when Ash and co. are about to leave Nimbasa City and go to Driftveil City when their travels are interrupted by many events occurred since BW052: Dazzling the Nimbasa Gym! after the battle with Elesa and earns the Bolt Badge as Ash is about to leave when she warned him that the Driftveil Drawbridge is offline for repairs. Also in BW053: Lost at the Stamp Rally! When Ash and co. (minus Cilan) are about to take a tour around Nimbasa City while the drawbridge is fixed.
