Changes: BW022: A Venipede Stampede!

Synopsis

Ash and friends finally arrive at Castelia City, only to find that a Venipede swarm has invaded the city. Meanwhile, Giovanni is headed to the Unova region to see the progress Team Rocket has made there. After the swarm passes, Professor Juniper arrives and requests the assistance of Ash and co. Ash decides to put his Gym battle with Burgh on hold to help the Professor.

Plot

After crossing the Skyarrow Bridge, Ash, Iris and Cilan went to Castelia City. Cilan suggested to go to the City's Ice Cream shop, but Ash denies it, wanting to battle the Gym Leader. They managed to find Burgh, thinking of something near a tree. Burgh said that he feels an odd energy, as something was wrong. Iris felt a similar thing and proposed to go to the source. Despite she took them to the Ice Cream shop, they opened a manhole to the sewers.

In the sewers, they find a lone Venipede stuck in a sewer pipe. Despite Burgh warning him not to free Venipede because of the poison, Ash tried (and succeeded) in freeing Venipede. Venipede was struggling to get free, Ash calmed him down, until the poison took effect. Later, Cilan gave Ash antidote, while Burgh was healing Venipede's injury. Suddenly, hundreds of Venipedes were crawling in the sewers. Ash, Cilan, Iris and Burgh went out.

Unexpectedly, they saw hundreds of Venipedes in the streets! They went to the Pokémon Center, when they see Trip and some trainers battling them. Trip almost attacked with his Lampent, until Ash stopped him, blocking the attack. The Mayor arrives, declaring that the Venipedes must go. The gang persuades him that the Venipedes will go to the Castelia City's park until the problem resolves.

The Mayor agreed, and Burgh played his flute to make the Venipedes follow him. The gang brought their Pokémon out to lure the other lost Venipedes to follow Burgh. At one point, even Trip joins to help them. When Pidove lured some of the Venipedes, she evolved into Tranquill.

Giovanni, leader of Team Rocket, has been going to visit the source of the unknown energy. Back in the city, the gang managed to lure all Venipedes to the park. The Mayor was pleased, while Trip wasn't - he needed to go to another City Gym until things calm down. Professor Juniper arrived, saying that the Venipedes must have gone to the City because there is a secret energy coming from the desert. Officer Jenny volunteered to go with Professor Juniper to the desert to find the secret energy (in the Japanese version, Ash, Iris and Cilan also volunteered to go with Professor Juniper and Officer Jenny). The episode ends with a helicopter going to the mountains.

This is the second time Ash looked up Tranquill on the Pokedex. First was BW010: A Rival Battle for Club Champ!.

Dub Edits

Although, in Japan, it was shown that Ash, Iris and Cilan went with Professor Juniper to the Desert Resort, in the English dub she went alone while Ash and the gang stayed for the next gym badge against Burgh. Basically they skipped the scene in which Ash and co. go in the helicopter due to the next two postponed episodes.
Giovanni's pilot still says they've almost reached Unova, implying he would appear in the next episode.

Ash were saying that he finally can challenge the Castelia City gym on an exited way while Iris were saying that Castelia City is humongous. After that Iris told that the city is humongous, Cilan then says that Castelia City is famous because they were selling their delicious ice cream named Castelia Ice and like to eat one while they are here. Iris then agrees and says that they should get one before they are going to the gym. Ash were then been ruining their dream of getting the ice and say that they will no do it until his gym challenge is over. They were then been heading to the gym and it would be easy if they are entering the city area. Iris then ask Ash if he's prepared for his Gym challenge. Ash then says that his plan is to face him with a passionate impression. They then sees the Gym Leader [[Burgh]].<br./>

After that they were been looking upon the tree, Iris then starts to talk that she feels something either and shows from which direction it come but it contains that she was brining them to the Castelia Ice Shop but it has been closed. Ash then says that she were been treating herself for ice cream. Iris were saying with an embarrassed tone that it isn't true. [[Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu]] then sense something coming from the foul sewer, Ash then ask Pikachu what's wrong and Pikachu show them the foul sewer. Ash then ask Burgh what's down there. Burgh then says that it is the underwater canal.<br./>

When they are walking under the water canal, Ash then sees something which contains to be a Pokémon and grabs his [[PokéDex]] which contains the Pokémon [[Venipede]] that he is stuck. They have noticed that his head has been stuck and he trays to get out of here. Ash is then decided to help out Venipede but Burgh stopped him telling that Venipede's special ability is [[Poison Thorn]] and warned him if Ash touch him only a slight touch he will be affected with the poison. Ash then says that he has seen him struggling to get free and if he stays at here he will, but he then pushes Burgh back and tries to rescue Venipede. Ash succeeds to rescue Venipede but when Venipede stand up he uses [[screech]] to care them off.<br./>

Pikachu seems to talk to Venipede which Venipede talks and Ash says that he might understand it right now. Ash then says what a relief but Ash were been caught up a poison from Venipede's Poison Thorn and says that he will leave Venipede to Burgh which Ash faints. His friends were been worried about him which Burgh says that he has been poisoned. Iris then says if they have an [[antidote]] which Cilan says that he does which Burgh says that he will take care of Venipede. Cilan where been giving Ash the antidote which Ash is healed after Venipede's poison. Ash then thanks Cilan because he's still alive. Iris then starts to spray a [[Super Potion]] to Venipede and Burgh puts a sticking plaster on Venipede's wound whihc he says that the treatment at Venipede has also been finished.<br./>

Iris then gives Venipede an [[Oran Berry]] to heal a lot better. After that Venipede eats the Oran Berry, Burgh then wonders why his head was stuck at the first place. Then Cilan were been looking in the hole where Venipede were been stuck in and wonders where the noise comes from. When he looked behind him and sees a swarm of Venipede behind him.
