Plot
Iris and Axew have a practice battle against Cilan and Pansage. Since Cilan was a gentleman, he decided to get Pansage to use his moves lightly on Axew, sine it was Axew has never battled before. Soon, Ash tells Iris to use another move rather than Scratch and Iris tells her Axew to use Dragon Rage. Axew does what he was told but all of a sudden, the blue ball exploded in Axew's mouth. Everyone was affected by it, Iris, Cilan, Cilan's Pansage etc. exept for Axew. After learning more about Axew's current abilities and why Iris started her journey, Axew decides to pick some apples, while Ash and Cilan make fun of Axew's Dragon Rage, calling it Dragon Sneeze. However he loses his balance and falls down and gets caught between a wild Scolipede's two horns. A battle to stop Scolipede proves difficult due to the wild centipede's massive strength, so Iris tries to get her Excadrill to lend a hand despite it not listening to her. Although they manage to rescue Axew, the Scolipede is still angry and accidently kicks Excadrill away. This makes Excadrill spring into action and quickly defeats then send the Scolipede flying. Although the team is grateful for Excadrill's help, he still refuse to listen to Iris and turn back into its drill mode and is taken back to its Poké Ball. Later, Ash insists to have a battle with Iris. Iris (being sarcastic) tells Ash if he wants to battle so badly, just battle Pikachu. Ash follows her idea and battles Pikachu, which fails dramaticly.

- This is the first episode where Iris's Axew is seen using moves in battle.
- This is the first episode to display a Steel-type Pokemon's immunity to Poison-type moves.

Goofs
- When Axew uses a failed Dragon Rage (or Dragon Sneeze), it creates an explosion throughout the entire forest and right in front of Ash and co.'s eyes.
- Also, Axew's Dragon Sneeze creates a huge impact crater in the ground. At least its impossible for Ash and co. to survive the blast.
- When the explosion of Axew's Dragon Sneeze blows up to the top of the forest, where are all the wild Pokemons in the area even though they should've heard it, seen it, and get all scared and run away?
