Baoppu retaliates with a Fire Punch hurting Pokabu. Baoppu uses Flamethrower and Pokabu uses Ember. Flamethrower wins the Ember and attacks Pokabu. After this, Poddo tells Baoppu to use Dig. A confused Pokabu is hit by Baoppu from underneath. Ash tells Pokabu to keep running. This works for some time but Pokabu is hit again by Baoppu and flies away. Ash tells Pokabu to jump in to the hole Baoppu dug and Pokabu does so. A surprised Poddo sees Pokabu coming out having a firm bite on Baoppu's tail. Poddo tells Baoppu to slam Pokabu on the floor which it does successfully. But Pokabu still standing, whirls Baoppu by its tail and throws it on the ground and uses Ember upon Ash's command. Baoppu, Hiyappu, Yanappu! in this episode Ash has his first gym battles with Poddo Koon and Dento
Ash enters Sanyou City with Iris. He begins to wonder where the Pokemon Gym is located. At that time, a green haired boy named Dento appears and takes an interest on Ash's Pikachu . When Ash asks the location of the Gym Dento leads him there. But the Gym turns out to be a restaurant. Two other boys Poddo and Kon make Ash sit down when he says "I have a request!" knowing he will ask for a Gym battle and waiter him. Confused and annoyed by the boys he yells "I want a Gym battle!!". Suddenly the restaurant becomes a Gym with the three boys Dento, Poddo, and Koon as the Gym Leaders. Dento says that Ash can fight with only one person.
