Ash's Sceptile is a strong Pokémon and was his second Pokémon caught during his journey in the Hoenn Region, second to Ash's Swellow. When Sceptile evolves in the episode "Odd Pokémon Out", it was unable to use any of its attacks since it's heart was broken when Nurse Joy's Meganium fell for a wild Tropius instead of Grovyle. After seeing Meganium in danger, Grovyle evolved to try and protect it to no avail... Two episode later in "Cutting the Ties That Bind", Sceptile finally regained all of it's moves as well as a new and powerful SolarBeam attack. Sceptile is an expert at the move Leaf Blade, its signature move (on Generation III only). When it activates its ability Overgrow, it becomes nearly unbeatable. It was even able to beat Tobias' trained Legendary Pokémon Darkrai with two high-powered Leaf Blade attack.

• Ash's Sceptile is the only Pokémon to ever defeat Tobias' Darkrai.
• He is considered to be Ash's most powerful Grass Pokémon.
• Sceptile is one of the few Pokémon owned by Ash to develop feelings or a crush on another Pokémon, he developed feelings for a female Meganium. The others being Totodile, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Corphish, Butterfree and now Oshawott.
  • Totodile developed a crush on a female Azumarill and a Quagsire.
  • Bulbasaur and May's Bulbasaur both developed a budding love for one another.
  • Charizard and Charla became an item after he became bigger and stronger.
  • Corphish had a crush on Samantha's Mawile.
  • Butterfree fell in love with a female Butterfree and they eventually become mates.
  • Oshawott develops a crush on Iris' Emolga.
• He is one of the few Ash's Pokémon to battle and defeat a legendary Pokémon, the others being Charizard and Pikachu.
