Archeops (Japanese: アーケオス Archeos) is a Rock/Flying-type Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology

Physiology

Archeops is a large, ancient avian flying Pokémon. It possesses traits of both birds and reptiles. Its head snake-like in appearance; it is featherless, scaly, and red with a green stripe running along the top. Its mouth is lined with sharp fangs. Its eyes are round white with black pupils. Its body is covered with frayed yellowish feathers with blue feathers on its winglike arms and legs. All of its winglike limbs bear razor-sharp claws. It has a ring of small green feathers on its ankles. Its tail is red and featherless; it has a fan of blue feathers at the tip.

Evolution

Archeops evolves from Archen, starting at level 37.

Trivia

  • A few weeks after it was revealed on September 17, its name was Americanized to "Archeops".
  • Archeops, its pre-evolution form, Archen, and Aerodactyl are the only three Pokémon that are Rock/Flying type, and all three bear similarities to ancient flying creatures that were fossilized.
  • Stat-wise, Archeops is better than its counterpart, Carracosta.

Origin

This Pokémon is based on the extinct Archeopterygidae, the Archeopteryx lithographica.
