[edit] Appearance
Aerodactyl is from the prehistoric age, and because of this its name and physical characteristics are based on that of the Pteradactyl.
[edit] In Games
[edit] First generation
Because the entire race is extinct, Aerodactyl cannot be caught by normal means. However, the only way to obtain one is to take the back entrance to Pewter City's Museum, and talk to the researcher there. The scientist will hand over the Old Amber, which can then be taken to Cinnabar Island's PKMN Lab for revival and reanimation.
[edit] Second generation
The only way to obtain an Aerodactyl in Gold/Silver/Crystal is to trade for a Chansey on Route 14.
[edit] Third generation
There is no way in-game to obtain an Aerodactyl in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, except by trading from FireRed/LeafGreen. In FireRed/LeafGreen, the only way is to revive one from the Old Amber.
[edit] Fourth generation
To be able to revive one, you must dig up an Old Amber in the Underground after defeating the Elite Four. Take the Old Amber to the Oreburgh Mining Museum to resurrect it.
