Scott tells May, Max and Brock Noland waited for the opportunity that Articuno was able to attack Charizard directly, while evading Charizard's attacks. Charizard stands up, but seems weak. Ash has no choice - he remembers that Charizard learned to use a move only by himself, but thinks it is soon to use that move. The Symbol Life (Japanese: 初陣!バトルファクトリー!!(後編), HepburnThe First Battle! The Battle Factory! (Part Two)) is the 45th episode of Pokémon: Advanced Battle.

Synopsis

Given the chance to choose his opponent in his first ever Battle Frontier battle, Ash surprises everyone by choosing to face the legendary Pokémon Articuno. Planning to pit Fire against Ice, Ash calls his Charizard from the Charicific Valley to assist him in this one match. Despite Charizard’s continued training, however, the tide of battle quickly favors Articuno.  Was Ash being overly confident in challenging a legendary Pokémon, or can he and his trusted Pokémon somehow overcome the odds to win his first battle in the Battle Frontier?[1]

Episode plot

Before the battle, Ash rides Charizard to see his strength. It swoops down and up, showing his power. It uses Flamethrower, with Ash and his friends amazed.
