Corphish uses Crabhammer on the water and Luvdisc flies into mid air. Corphish goes to grab it with ViceGrip, but Luvdisc even then moves away. Brock tells May and Max Luvdisc has an ability called Swift Swim - when it rains (and it does when Corphish sprayed the water) Luvdisc is much faster than usual. Luvdisc attacks with Water Gun, but misses, so Corphish uses Bubble Beam on the mist. Luvdisc has its speed reduced, so Corphish charges with Crabhammer, defeating Luvdisc.

Whiscash surfs and uses Rock Smash - Corphish did not do any damage and it got defeated immediately. Team Rocket has their performance - Juan (aka James) sprays a bit of water (while Meowth pumps it). The visitors are not amused, but Jessie tells the ladies Juan will be able to be pictured with them soon enough. For his next Pokémon, Ash sends Swellow. Swellow charges with Quick Attack, but Whiscash stops it with its moustache. Whiscash then tickles Swellow (much to May, Max and Brock's surprise) and follows with Hyper Beam. Swellow is bashed (and an object falls down), but Swellow stands up.

Swellow uses Aerial Ace, while Whiscash dives in. Swellow goes in water as well, attacking Whiscash. Whiscash uses Hyper Beam (maintaining balance using its moustache), but Swellow dodges with Quick Attack. Swellow uses Aerial Ace and Whiscash dives in the water, but after a moment, Swellow is not defeated, while Whiscash is. Juan is very impressed by Ash's skill and has one Pokémon left, but Brock reminds May and Max Pikachu and Swellow are a bit exhausted from their previous battles. For his final Pokémon in final round, Juan sends his ace - Milotic. Swellow goes to attack, so Milotic uses Hydro Pump. Swellow dodges and attacks it with Aerial Ace.

Ash's only Pokémon left is Pikachu, so sends him. Ash remembers well that Juan told him he will block any electric attack, so Ash orders Pikachu to use Thunder, hoping a more powerful electric attack will do. However, to get their attention, Jessie tells them if they buy 3 autographs, they need to open a bag to get a Juan posing. Grovyle is under the effect of Luvdisc's Sweet Kiss. He bashes himself on a column, as it is confused, despite Ash warning him not to. Luvdisc attacks him with Water Gun and is defeated before Ash could have done anything. Ash calls Grovyle back, as Juan tells him he will have a hard time battling in Hoenn League.
