RS069: Love, Petalburg Style!

Love, Petalburg Style! (Japanese: トウカジムの危機！家庭の危機！！, Hepburn: Petalburg Gym Crisis! Household Crisis!!) is the 29th episode of Pokémon: Advanced Challenge.

Episode Plot

The gang has finally arrived to Petalburg City. They see Norman became more famous than before, so Ash is more confident to battle him. Max is skeptical since his father is powerful, but Ash reminds him he's powerful too, so he goes to Pokémon Center to get his Pokémon checked up. May, Max and Brock greet Kenny. Kenny says that their father is not at home right now. Kenny mentions that some problem is with Norman, but is stopped when Caroline reunites with her children. Max is happy to have mom's food to eat again.

Ash goes to the Pokémon Center, seeing Nurse Joy and Norman talking. Ash greets Norman and wants a battle, so Norman accepts. Norman and Nurse Joy seem to have a secret, making Ash confused. Meowth led Team Rocket to Norman's greenhouse, so they are going to steal something while "the twerps battle Norman". Meanwhile, Brock, Max and May have lunch, so Max tells of their adventures. Max asks when is dad coming, but Caroline states he won't this day. May states that she caught a Beautifly, but Kenny begins to act nervous. When everyone mentions Beautifly, Caroline gets angrier and upset. When her children ask what's wrong, she just says she's working out.

Kenny goes to the Greenhouse, with May, Max and Brock following him. Before Kenny says something, Max spots a Vigoroth - Norman keeps his Pokémon inside. Max greets Vigoroth. May mentions to Brock they never got to watch the Gym fights, as it may have distracted the challengers. Max spots a Slakoth, even if Kenny wants to say something. Max spots a Slaking as well. Kenny finally says - there is something between Caroline and Norman. Every day Norman visits the Pokémon Center while Caroline and Norman yell. Every time Caroline hears Beautifly, she gets upset. Ash comes, finding them.

Team Rocket see the gang talking, so Meowth plans to steal Slakoth, Vigororth and Slaking. Vigoroth would hug the boss, and would spend time with Slakoth and Slaking and Team Rocket would be awarded. Ash says he saw Norman with Nurse Joy, helping her with Pokémon. The gang goes away to help, but Vigoroth falls on Ash. Norman greets his children. Brock goes to have a talk with Norman, but is full of love when he sees Nurse Joy. Team Rocket wanders and go through a door. They spot something unusual, but Jessie orders them to go back. Ash wanders as well, seeing Norman's Pokémon.

Brock intimidates Norman, clarifying the facts that he promised to love Caroline when he married her. He is carried by Kenny when he sees Joy. Caroline appears before the children and Norman, saying she goes away with her suitcase. Norman does not understand what Caroline means by that... Ash and Pikachu spend time with the Pokémon, waiting for the others to arrive. Team Rocket go to capture the Pokémon, so they sends Seviper and Cacnea. Seviper goes to bite, so Ash goes to battle them.

Kenny explains to Norman the situation, so Caroline decides to leave, even on her wedding anniversary. Norman finally realizes and offers them to go home to explain everything. Seviper uses Poison Tail, hurting Piakchu. Cacnea attacks with pin Missile, damaging the Pokémon. Seviper uses Poison Tail, but Ash, Vigoroth and Slakoth run away. Norman, Caroline, Nurse Joy, May, Max and Brock run towards Ash and Norman's Pokémon. Seviper uses Poison Tail and Cacnea Pin Missile, damaging a machine that Team Rocket saw before. Norman is furious and calls Slaking.

Slaking uses Focus Punch, blasting Team Rocket off immediately. Norman sees the machine - it were fireworks, actually for the anniversary. Nurse Joy offers some other fireworks as she is a pyrotechnician. She has brought the fireworks as a surprise to Caroline, as a gift from Norman. During the night, Joy sets the fireworks, Norman releases them... some fireworks take shape of Beautifly's as well. Max wonders why the Beautifly's, but Norman dodges the question. Caroline explains they met on a field full of Beautifly's. Norman tells Ash what Pokémon he's going to choose, to make the battle even more exciting.

• With Megan Hollingshead gone, Karen Neill (the voice of Roxanne) had to fill in for her as Caroline.
• At the beginning of the episode, a classic Pokémon identification can be seen. In this case, it is a Koffing.
• This episode's name has a resemblance to JE151: Love, Pokémon Style.
