Plot

A storm approached - a thunder struck a tree and the tree burns. Most Pokémon flew off, but a single one stayed. The gang approaches the forest, but Brock tells them they have lost themselves. Max thinks they should turn back, but Brock still thinks they would get lost either way, however, Brock tells them it is lunch time. Brock makes the stew, so he, Ash and May bring their Pokémon as well. The Pokémon are surprises, but Brock tells them that Lotad evolved into Lombre.

Pikachu hears something - when they approach, they see trees that fell over. Pikachu and Torchic see a Pokémon stuck - a tree fell onto it, hurting it severely. May approaches Swablu, but Swablu sings a song, so everyone gets asleep. Swablu trips over Torchic, so Torchic awakes. Torchic pecks May, waking her up. May sprays the wing Swablu hurt, while Torchic pecks the others, waking them up. A man hears the scream of pain Torchic woke everyone up, so he goes there.

Brock sees the Swablu, but it is all bandaged up. The man appears - it is the Ranger of the Preserve. He introduces himself as Morita and offers help. When the gang arrives to Morita's home, Brock ties the bandage only to its wing. Morita gives the gang hot chocolate. Anyway, the Ranger explains that a terrible storm was last night - so Swablu must have been split from its flock. The Ranger will give them directions out of the Preserve, but May thinks they should stay to see Swablu healed up. Ash agrees, with Morita giving them place to sleep for the night.

Team Rocket spies - Meowth thinks that if they give it to the boss, he would sleep carelessly on its fluffy wings. May fell asleep, so everyone wakes her up. Brock offers to watch over Swablu, but May thinks she should watch over Swablu. May is been given medicine and bandages for Swablu and everyone goes to sleep, except May. May watches over Swablu the entire night. Days pass by and Swablu is finally healed. Swablu flies for a moment, but falls down, so Ash suspects it might have forgotten how to fly.

Ash brings Taillow to show Swablu how to fly. Surprisingly, Swablu shakes its head, so Brock thinks it is afraid to fly. Ash lets May to spend more tie with Swablu until it can fly. Ash and Pikachu get some wings to show Swablu how to fly. Swablu goes and flies, but falls down. May places Swablu onto her Beautifly to remember how good it was to fly. Beautifly takes off and Swablu opens its eyes (after some long persuasion). Swablu is happy to see the view.

The gang discusses how to help Swablu fly, so Max resorts to Plan B - to show that they need to use magic, much to everyone's surprise. The next day, Max tells that it is due to magic some Pokémon can fly. Beautifly sprays some dust over Taillow, so Taillow flies. Swablu asks May, so May thinks he should try it as well. Dust is sprayed over Swablu. Swablu flaps its wings and if takes off! Ash and Pikachu get carried away when they want to fly as well. Morita knows where the flock is, so everyone goes to the lake where the flock is located.

During the trip, the car is attacked - one of the tires became flat. However, the lake is not far, so May asks Swablu that it should go fly there. Max thinks it wants some of the magic powder, so when May gets Beautifly, a hand grabs Swablu. It is Team Rocket who took Swablu and they go away. Ash orders Piakchu to use Thunderbolt, but is reminded that if Pikachu blasts Team Rocket off, Swablu goes as well. Swablu uses Sing, so Team Rocket falls asleep. Before Cacnea goes asleep, it uses Pin Missile, so everyone's awake except it. One of the missiles damages the fire container, so they go down.

Swablu sees the fire and remembers the fire when the thunder stroke the tree. The gang convinces Swablu to fly and when it sees the sky once more, it flies off before the explosion of the balloon. Brock sends Mudkip and Lombre to extinguish the fire . Lombre and Mudkip use Water Gun to cool the fire down. Team Rocket is saved, but they still want Swablu, so Lombre and Mudkip use Water Gun to blast them off.

When they arrive to the lake, they see no flock - it must have gone already. May offers that Swablu comes with them. Just when May prepares the Poké Ball, the flock of Altaria and Swablu arrive. Swablu goes to the flock, but May hesitates. May thinks for a while and lets the Swablu go with the flock. Max does not understand why she let Swablu go, but May just let it go to its happiness. May leaves a final drop for Swablu as the flock goes.
